About

The Academy annually holds scientific meetings, symposia, public lectures for encouraging other similar activities in order to provide means of exchange of scientific knowledge among scientists and to bring new knowledge to the attention of the whole scientific community. Annually, the midyear meeting is organised during June/July and the Annual meeting in November. The Fellowship of the Academy, teachers and other invitees participate in these meetings. For the past several years now, the Academy has been organizing two meetings, a Mid-year meeting normally in Bangalore and an Annual meeting in different places in the country.

The 89th Annual Meeting of the Indian Academy of Sciences scheduled to be held at BITS-  Pilani KK Birla Goa Campus, Goa  during 3-5 November 2023. The event is hosted by the Local Organizing Committee of BITS –Pilani, Goa and co-hosted by NCPOR, Goa.

  • The meeting will see the participation of Fellows and Associates of the Academy and invited teachers from different parts of the country.
  • Two-and-half day scientific forum comprising lectures by Fellows/Associates of the Academy over a wide range of scientific topics
  • 30 renowned speakers.
  • Two public lectures (open to all)
    • 1) The Art and Science of Design by Dean D’Cruz
    • 2) The Saga of Laterite by Gurmeet Kaur.
  • Two special lectures:
    • 1) Connecting academic R&D with product innovation: A few case studies and a way forward
    • 2) Evolution of our understanding of the dynamics of the North Indian Ocean.
  • Two high-level scientific symposia on Catalysis for
    • 1) Sustainable Society
    • 2) Landscape and Seascape of Western India and beyond.
  • A Symposium for Invited Teachers and science outreach activities organized by the Academy Trust
